Still on wardrobe matters…
Even though I am about to get a new, larger closet, soon there will be another girl competing for wardrobe space with me. Yep, I am expecting a baby girl!
She’s only (?) due in December, but I have already gathered quite a few little pieces for her…
I really have to police myself and keep in mind that babies grow very quickly, otherwise I would spend all my money in baby clothes! They are simply the most adorable thing.
Speaking of adorable (and of sort of unnecessary, extravagant purchases), here is my favourite thing so far:
A little rabbit romper from Stella McCartney ♥
With 2 girls at home, my husband is already asking himself whether he’ll get any wardrobe space at all :)

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!! I’m so excited for you!
Awww – you’re really getting in to this baby clothes buying thing but they are pretty adorable and irresistible aren’t they? The Stella romper – another little fashionista in da house! Whoop whoop!

Thank you, Sue! It is very exciting.
In my defence, let me add that some of the clothes were gifts (from our parents) and they range from newborn up to 6months :)
But, yeah, I’m not very sure about how manyy little bodies, pants and babygrows the baby will need in the first month. I suppose I’m getting 5 or 6 of each of these things, but any advice from mothers is welcome!

Oh it’s so hard to say. With your first, it’s always more exciting and if it’s a girl, the world is your shopping oyster. I didn’t go too overboard in the first 6 months with Ben (seems so long ago) and I’m kind of glad I didn’t because honestly, they grow so fast but it’s always good to have some spare clothes handy or just some easy babygrows for when you have days together just at home and you’re not going anywhere. Buy the babygrows which fasten down the front rather than over the head – it’s so much easier to get them in and out and when there’s been any err accidents.
BTW, here’s a blog which I follow … http://garmenthouse.blogspot.co.uk
I don’t know if you already follow or not but she’s expecting too and I think it might be up your street without being too gushy.

Congratulations……..!!!. Baby girls clothes are very hard to resist….. that bunny Stella romper is just adorable! You don’t really need lots of outfits in the first couple of months other than body suits/Babygrows and comfy outfits with legs in ( stella McCartney does gorgeous knitted pants with feet in, that are kittens ears …..so cute) ….oh and little cardis, plus friends and family are very kind and buy you lots! But you appear to have a good collection already. My 1st born was a December baby….special memories. Xxx

Annmarie, thanks for the comment and suggestions. Yes, I expect that friends and family will add some more pieces to the collection. Haven’t managed to get cardis yet (only one actually, gifted by my mother-in-law) because everything I see is made of cotton and looks a bit too cold for a December baby. Maybe need to wait a bit longer for the woolly ones to arrive in the shops? XX

Sue, thanks so much for the suggestion about the babygrows. It makes sense. I’m all for things that are easy to dress – babies look so fragile when they are born!
I didn’t know this blog (I haven’t spent much time on the internet lately), but will definitely have a look at it. Thanks!
Edit: just checked garment house blog. Lovely! And all those beautiful knits… awww… I’m jealous :) Thanks again for the suggestion!

If you really have nothing that you feel comfortable wearing to your baby shower, then hit up your friends and see if they have any old maternity clothes. If that’s not possible, then go to a local thrift store or resale store. This is my 2nd pregnancy. With my first I made the mistake of spending a small fortune on maternity clothes because I work in an office full time. My old maternity clothes area all winter clothes so I needed a whole new wardrobe again. This time I just went to Savers thrift store (in MA) a bunch of times and picked up a bunch of shirts and pants and shorts etc. If you go to a thrift store make sure to call ahead and find out which stores have seperate sections for maternity clothes. Only some of the stores seperate the clothes… our local Salvation Army store did not. And many baby/children’s resale stores also carry maternity clothes.
